Numerous bird conservation initiatives exist in North America and within New Mexico, including New Mexico Partners in Flight. The New Mexico Avian Conservation Partners (NMACP) effort strives to build a networking forum for government agencies, non-governmental organizations, corporations, and individuals with an interest in collaboration. The group includes specific plans and efforts not originally included in Partners in Flight, such as waterbirds, gamebirds, and waterfowl.
To this end, New Mexico Avian Conservation Partners functions in a similar manner to the way that Partners in Flight coordinated communication among researchers, educators, and land managers. We hold statewide meetings to prioritize conservation needs, disseminate research results, provide potential funding sources, promote conservation education outreach programs, as well as conservation information that may be of interest to the bird conservation community.
We host an online List Serve to facilitate communication among participants. To register, E-mail the NEWMEXALLBIRDGROUP: In the subject line write "Subscribe NEWMEXALLBIRDGROUP-L firstname lastname. Please note that the group is NEWMEX, not NEWMEXICO.
